You wouldn’t know it from observing my extreme awkwardness and untamed clumsiness, but I was a ballet dancer for seven years.
My parents enrolled me in ballet at the tender age of four, and I danced until I was 11, when we moved to Dallas and gymnastics was all the rage. Every year, the family would make it a point to go see The Nutcracker together. Not only was this a way for me and my sisters to enjoy another experience of ballet, but The Nutcracker was a timeless classic that everyone in the family could enjoy, regardless of age or interest! In fact, I had a fairly major part (for my class/level) in The Nutcracker when I was 10!
And, just as my ballet lessons ceased when we moved to Dallas, so did the annual attendances at The Nutcracker. Boo!
I haven’t seen The Nutcracker in 19 years. 19 YEARS, PEOPLE! That’s entirely too long, in my opinion. Thankfully, Columbus’ BalletMet is performing The Nutcracker this year (Dec. 9 – 24).
And I’m going!
This will be the perfect way to get in the holiday spirit and re-kindle my love for ballet. (It’s just a shame I’m not nearly as bendy as I was in my youth, otherwise I’d think about signing up for their adult dance classes!)
Guess what, readers?
You can go too!

I love watching ballet shows... But sadly, i have never had the chance to see The Nutcracker live! Maybe, it's really different when I am watching this live.

LikeI started taking ballet when I was 3, and it was at BalletMet. I took classes there for 10 years and remember trying out for the Nutcracker every year. I was never selected for any of the productions (something I'm still kind of bummed about), but still have nothing but love for the story/performance/music.
I've been saying, for years, that I would get to a show, but things always get tight around the holidays and I haven't made it. I would love the opportunity to go see this wonderful ballet as it's one of my favorites. A couple of the dancers I grew up taking classes with, are still performing with the company. Would love to see them. They were budding stars back then as well!
Thanks for the opportunity to win tickets! *crosses fingers*

Likewhen i was in 1st grade, i auditioned and was accepted to be a "cupcake" in the biggest nutcracker production across the state of hawaii. just as rehearsals were beginning, i broke my arm on the monkey bars at school and had to drop out of the production. i was devastated, but still went to see the show and have loved it every year. this is my first year living in ohio and i would love to see the nutcracker performed by balletmet!

LikeWhen I was a kid I used to go with my Mom and Grandma to see the Nutcracker at the Stranahan Theater in Toledo. I've never experienced a BalletMet Columbus performance and would love to see them for the first time with my girlfriend. :)

LikeI can't think of anything more "Christmassy" than going to see the Nutcracker ballet! I haven't been in many years and would adore the opportunity to take my fiance and our closest friends.

LikeI would love to win! I haven't been to see the Nutcracker in years, and I think it would bring me back to those carefree childhood Christmas years. :)

LikeI would love to win, so I can take my little girl who is enthralled with ballet and ballerinas. Didn't we all want to be ballerinas when we were little?
